About Us – Sherrill J. Steitz,
Professional Geriatric Care Manager, Gerontologist, Hospice Chaplain

 

SherrillMs. Steitz has over 20 years of experience in the field of Aging, as both a Caregiver and Care Manager.
 
She holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Gerontology from
California State University, Northridge and is a member of Sigma Phi Omega, the National Academic Honor and Professional Society in Gerontology.

Ms. Steitz is a Professional Geriatric Care Manager (PGCM) and a full member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.

In her capacity as a Hospice Chaplain, she has served the terminally ill throughout
Ventura County since 2004. She also has been responsible for designing and managing both the Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Programs.

Ms. Steitz is also a Nationally Certified Aquatic Fitness Professional and has taught water aerobics for over 5 years at L.A. Fitness, Inc. in Ventura, CA, motivating and assisting health club members to maintain healthy and active lives. In addition, she creatively combines her gerontology and aquatic expertise by designing aqua exercise classes specifically for seniors and teaches at both a
senior mobile home park and an assisted living facility. 

Ms. Steitz gives back to the community by donating her time providing animal assisted therapy to those in facilities through-out
Ventura County. She also volunteers with the Paws for Reading program at the local public library, where children read to therapy animals.  Both she and Chance, her Border Collie mix, are Certified through Love on a Leash, The Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy.

She knows full well the benefits and importance of volunteerism and is an active member of the Ventura County Volunteer Coordinators Council working to increase the spirit of volunteerism in Ventura County. 

Ms. Steitz founded "Caring Canines", a volunteer program which is an integral part of Integrity Care Managing.  The program strives to make a dynamic difference in the lives of seniors, brightening up their day with wagging tails and friendly furry faces.
